July 31 – September 19, 2020

Multiple Choice features works by Anila Quayyum Agha, Polly Apfelbaum, David Bates, Margarita Cabrera, Sandra Cinto, Peter Doig, Leonardo Drew, Jean Dubuffet, Carroll Dunham, Helen Frankenthaler, Alex Katz, Ellsworth Kelly, Brice Marden, Aaron Parazette, Louise Nevelson, Richard Serra, Jennifer Steinkamp and Fred Wilson.

Talley Dunn Gallery is pleased to announce Multiple Choice, an exhibition of important editioned works and multiples by master printmakers, sculptors, and artists working in new media. Reveling in the unique power and possibilities of editioned works, the exhibition spotlights artists’ practices that grapple with the formal constraints inherent to producing editioned work in different media. Multiple Choice is a sincere celebration of the gallery’s longstanding commitment to the fine art forms of printmaking, works on paper, and multiples.

Surveying work from groundbreaking artists of the mid-twentieth to twenty-first centuries, the exhibition features work from modernist icons such as Jean Dubuffet, Brice Marden, and Louise Nevelson, whose works share a strikingly austere aesthetic sensibility, to contemporary conceptual artists such as Margarita Cabrera and Fred Wilson, whose interdisciplinary practices question race, identity, and the structures that uphold them. The exhibition’s focus on editioned works and multiples expands and deepens our understanding of these artists’ practices, allowing us to experience their unique styles and subjects at a much more intimate scale.
